“There is an art to unraveling, unwinding, loosening, and freeing. The art is where one’s mind will go in the present moment when allowing oneself to unravel.
In our human nature, we want control. Yet, we must accept that control is limited. The art of life is that the present moment is what the present moment is. The present moment cannot be created nor controlled with the constant dream of the past and dream of the future in mind. Yes, any thought of the past, and any thought of the future is all a dream. Often termed as “anxiety”. All a mad creation in our mind that is nonexistent. If we unravel the depths of our fears of the future and regrets of the past, we open and free space for pure idea, pure enthusiasm, pure love, pure creation to enter, in the present moment.
We think controlling leads to satisfaction. And it may on the surface. But freeing ourselves from that need to control, allows opportunity for an even deeper, more human satisfaction and connection with ourselves. Arriving at these depths fosters deeper connection with our peers - the more that we can find within, the more content we feel with our inner beings, the closer we bond with another.
Take time to unravel. Explore what pushes the unraveling. Spend time being in that space. A few activities that push my unraveling are breath work, photography, drawing, observing nature, and chatting with my people.
This guitar sketch reminds me to loosen my strings, free myself from the structured world I’ve built inside my head, the dreams of the past and future, and allow myself to fully experience a present moment through breath, touch, sight, etc..
How does this unraveled guitar make you feel? How do you unravel?” -Sarah
