Turning Old Linens Into New Life: My Fox 13 Feature!
I'm still a little giddy, The Lone Daffodil was recently featured on Fox 13's Charley's World with Charley Belcher, and I had the best time showing off some of my favorite pieces and talking about what upcycled fashion means to me.
If you caught the segment, welcome! And if you missed it, here's a little recap of what we chatted about.
The Lisbon Pants: My Best Seller
One of the pieces I was most excited to show off was my Lisbon pants hands down one of my most popular designs. They've got adjustable buttons along the side, which means they can actually fit hip and waist sizes anywhere from 24 to 36 inches. I like to think of them as a "free size" pant, no more guessing games or worrying about whether a size will work for your body. One pair, so many possibilities.
A Vintage Blanket, Reimagined
We also talked about one of my sentimental favorites: a poncho made from a vintage blanket I found at a local estate sale. That one blanket turned into three or four ponchos total. I sold most of them, but I couldn't bring myself to let this particular one go, I loved it too much! It's a good reminder of why I do what I do: you never know what kind of treasure is hiding in someone's old linen closet.
Where to Find My Designs
New pieces usually make their debut on my Instagram before anything else, so if you want first dibs, follow along @lonedaf. From there, everything makes its way to the shop at thelonedaffodil.com.
And if you're a fellow crafter or maker, I've also got sewing patterns available on the site so you can try your hand at creating your own upcycled pieces at home.
Catch Me in Person
I love connecting with folks face-to-face, too. You may have seen me at a few indie flea markets around St. Petersburg and Tampa, those events are such a great space for small makers and local artists to share what they do.
I'm also excited (and a little nervous!) to share that I've applied for a spot at this fall's Mezzo Market. I'll keep you all posted on whether I get in!
Thank You
A huge thank-you to Charley Belcher and the Fox 13 team for having me. Sustainable, one-of-a-kind fashion is my passion, and it means so much to get to share that with more of the Tampa Bay community.
If you're looking for something totally unique for your closet or you're ready to start making your own you know where to find me.
