Mar Pant Digital Sewing Pattern

The Mar Pant. Handmade wide-leg pants designed for slow living and natural materials.

Two legs, two widths. One leg is cut larger than the other, so the extra fabric folds over itself at the front for that signature layered look. A back track and two ties finish the waist, so you can tie them as snug or as loose as you like. 

This is a confident-beginner pattern. Every piece is a simple geometric shape. The only curves are the two rise scoops on each leg. If you can sew a straight line and ease around a gentle curve, you can make these pants.

SIZING (you'll receive all options to download)
XS/S — 34–38" hips, 24–29" waist
M/L — 39–44" hips, 30–35" waist
XL/2XL — 45–51" hips, 36–42" waist
Choose your size by your hip measurement. Ties allow for an adjustable fit at the waist. Drafted for a height of 5'6" with a 30" inseam. Lengthen or shorten at the hem as needed.

FABRIC
XS/S: 2.5 yards of 54–60" wide fabric, or 2.75 yards of 45" wide fabric
M/L: 2.5 yards of 54–60" wide fabric
XL/2XL: 2.75 yards of 54–60" wide fabric
M/L and XL/2XL require fabric at least 54" wide.

We love this pattern in thrifted materials- a vintage flat sheet, a secondhand linen tablecloth, or a deadstock cotton all cut beautifully into Mar Pants. Natural woven fabrics work best: linen, cotton, or a soft twill. Avoid stretchy fabrics (jersey, knit). Pre-wash your fabric before cutting, and add an extra 1/4 yard for fabrics that shrink a lot, like linen.
